Bump Kitchen

Olympia, WA July 9, 2010 – Bump Kitchen in conjunction with Olympia’s 4th Avenue Tavern and the Underground Derby League announce a fundraiser for the all female roller derby league to take place Friday July 30th at 9 pm at the 4th Avenue Tavern in Olympia. The evening will consist of the music of original R&B funk band Bump Kitchen as well as raffles, drawings, merchandise and information about the Underground Derby League. The event promises to be lively as many of the leagues members will be in attendance sharing information about the league and grooving to the sounds of Bump Kitchen.
“We wanted to help support the women of the UDL because they provide an important sense of family and strength in Thurston County” said Bump Kitchen’s Everett James. “We have that in our band and wanted to give some back to the community.” There will be a $5.00 cover charge at the door.

Bump Kitchen is hitting the south sounds hottest podcast on July 4th! We are in the studio of the NW convergence zone talking about our band and playing some of our tunes. We are pleased to announce that we are hosting a benefit for the Underground Derby League in Olympia on Friday July 30th at the 4th Avenue Tavern in downtown Olympia. Admission is $5 and the Roller Derby Girls will be conducting raffles and selling merchandise to raise money for their league. Bump Kitchen hits the stage at 9pm, you best be early as this will be the best show in Olympia in July! Please come out and support Bump Kitchen and Olympia’s Underground Derby League!

We are asking for designs and design ideas. Write them down, draft them on your computer, do whatever you do. If we choose your design, you’ll receive a free t-shirt and your picture wearing that t-shirt on our website. We will adverstise this t-shirt as fan designed.

GREG THOMPSON, A CELEBRATION OF LIFE
A CONCERT TO BENEFIT THE THOMPSON FAMILY

On Monday morning, March 29, we lost a dear friend, our head sound engineer and member of the immediate Highway 99 family. Gregory Lloyd Thompson was with us from the very beginning. For anyone who frequented this place, Greg’s smiling face and contagious energy was a delightful fixture. His presence in our lives was a blessed gift.

Greg’s work in the Pacific Northwest music community transcended the small world in which we dwell. During the last 35-40 years, he has run audio and visual production at every theater, ballroom, church, festival, club, and even a few dumps and dives.
This event will honor and celebrate Greg’s life. Many of the area’s finest blues and jazz musicians have volunteered their time and creativity to play a concert event for all of us who wish to gather in a social environment, one in which Greg has graced with thousands of his hours during the last five and a half years.

American Music has volunteered to run the production and the Triamp Group has donated all the backline (drums, amplifiers, keyboards, etc.). Sam Marshall has graciously offered Wednesday night – previously booked with him and his trio – for this event.

GREG THOMPSON, A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will raise financial support for Greg’s surviving family. With his untimely passing, the Thompsons sure could use some help. The admission for this very meaningful occasion, one which will offer brilliant and inspired performances by many of the Seattle area’s top musicians who’ve owed part of their great sound over the years to Greg, is whatever you can donate to the Thompson Family. Nobody is keeping score or demanding anything. Just come on down, enjoy a wonderful evening with good folks, and give what you can. 100% of the funds raised will be given directly to the Thompson Family.

It just isn’t possible to describe the impact Greg, his character and demeanor, has had on us. We will always love and miss him. We will always be better people as a result of him.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Greg Thompson. He was the lead sound engineer at the Hwy 99 club in Seattle, as well as having a long career as an audio engineer and install tech. He always made us sound great and laugh. Our hearts go out to Greg’s family. You will be missed.

We had a wonderful time at Club Crow. Jack and all the staff made us feel loved and appreciated. To all of our fans that came out a big ‘Thank You’ !!!! This is one of the best clubs in the NW and the people that go there to listen to music completely ‘Get It’.
There will always be a special place in our hearts for Cashmere and the Club Crow.

Maceo Parker and Bump Kitchen

We had the good fortune to hang out with Maceo Parker after his show at Jazz Alley in Seattle. What a great experience!

We had the great good fortune to play again at the Sunbanks Festival in May of 2009. There was a recording made of this performance and today I am posting  the song “Don’t Say Don’t” which was originally recorded on our CD Big Ol’ Bones.
